I can't wait to have final photos of my "goodies". Still waiting on the my latest decals so I can have finished photos of my dashlights
with chrome turnsignal decals, compass assembly, my detectascope with lined knobs, arrow
on screen, "Detect-A-Scope" plaque and label, and handmade lights (the cast-in ones on the base in the current photos will be cut off and replaced
with metal ones).
Oh, and you'll "go batty" over the machined toggle switch which I've come up with for my detectascopes (I might need to include a magnifying glass with each one of these...just kidding!). My d-scopes will be fully finished and ready to install. If you want, I will even set the detectascope arrow to the direction you request. I will make these on a first-come first-served basis. These won't be stock-piled, but precisely and carefully made to the same quality I will be using on my very own model. Stay tuned.

Well, as promised, here are the photos of my newest additions to my parts. These are the latest, hot-off-of-the-press photos of the dashlights with the new
chrome turn-signal decals (chrome is a bugger to photograph well) and the finished compass assembly (all you have to do it make a hole and insert it). I made
the compass to have an interior part that looks like it "floating", hopefully like the real compass would. I'm pleased with how they have turned
out, and will start building the pre-orders that might come in for them starting tomorrow. Let me know what you think of them.

Someone asked me if I got the marking too bold (I hope not). I did have to make 2 different versions of the compass markings, because my first set (even though
still a little "beefed up" from the original markings), just couldn't be seen when you got even a few inches away. This version I've tried to
find a good compromise between keeping it as much like the original as possible, and having something in scale that you could see (at a reasonable distance).
Here is a photo I took of the dash in the body shell (which I think is still closer than most people would get to look at it), to hopefully give everyone a
better idea of how it looks in "person". I'll be anxious to see if the first recipients of them like the results (I did my best to find that
compromise). This stuff is really tiny in person, and I thought I needed to make it large enough in the sample photos
to appreciate the fine detailing.

The workmanship in all these parts is truly stunning, as well as absolutely amazing. I wish I could afford a set of all these great items myself, because any
of the 1:18 Mattel versions would be a real masterpiece once these customizing parts are installed!
Magnificent work everyone. I admire and am quite envious of your glorious ability to make such things. |

So is there going to be an 'Insane Detailing Pack' where if you buy them all there's a bit of a discount, or just the benefit of combined postage?
Your stuff looks awesome Doug! You are the 'Dash Man'! |

We can definitely work something out for combined postage. The paypal cart is a bit amok calculating shipping anyway. But there won;t be any discount for the
I.D. parts at this time. In fact - in case this wasn't clear in the sale copy - these are introductory prices and they're going to go up shortly.

Nice, but... | #9 | ||

I've got a couple of questions--
1) On the first parts set, the description says the Detect-a-scope was a collaboration between PMB and ID. So, is the scope in the set the same one that ID is selling separately for $50? 2) The antlers look nice. Looking back at a November blog post, I see replacement rollbars, seats, hinged trunk and hood lids, a molded trunk with Batcomputer, et cetera in the pic. When will we see that stuff? Replacement antlers won't do much good unless there's a corrected rollbar to put them on; same goes for ID's rollbar lights. 3) Are there also going to be suspension parts that allow the lowering of the body? Don't get me wrong...I like what I see. (The prices are a lot higher than I'd planned on, esp. the ID stuff, and I realize they're custom, handmade, a lot of work, and so on. But geeez.) I've had four standard Bats since last summer that I've been waiting months to begin customizing, as I don't want to keep re-doing them when new parts are released. I want to start work but at the rate that parts are being offered I won't get a completed Bat together until next year!

1) No. As it states right in that upgrade parts description, the ONLY parts that are available separately from that set are the cute packs and the exhaust.
The Scope that I.D. offers is a phenomenal piece of detailing, multiple parts with a metal insert and decal. The piece in the "Upgrade Parts 01" set
is a single, solid piece of urethane designed to be painted and put in place. (or drilled for a light underneath)
2) The new antlers will work on the Mattel rollbar just fine, which is why they are available now, ahead of the new urethane rollbar, trunk insert, engine insert, hood and trunk lids and suspension kit. Those pieces are coming from another designer (Falcon) and are in their last stages of development right now, from what I've been told. We should have them for sale soon. 3) There will be, yes. 4) There are cheaper alternatives to the I.D. parts in the general upgrade set for the more casual modeler. I.D.'s parts are for serious modelers and serious commitments to accurizing this model. Their prices are in line with the work that creates them. The supplies on the I.D. parts are also limited. You're quite right about a fully upgraded vehicle taking some time. Mine is no further along than yours is. We have so, so many other cool parts in the hopper: Seats with soft cushions, center console, display base, lighting kit, I.D. steering wheel, Canopies... that I wouldn't advise a short term patience level.

Scooter--
Thanks for the info. As I wanted to build two of these, I think I've decided what my most cost-effective option will be. I'll get a couple of ID's parts for each that will be 'most noticeable,' then use lesser-cost versions for the rest. Most eyes (including mine) will see those and gloss over the lesser-detailed accessories.

Well, how about BOTH! I just wanted to let everyone know that I've finished the first set of pre-orders for my Insane Detailing parts, exclusively for PMB (except for the Detectascopes...see details below). I just need to finish a couple little things like the mini-instruction sheets and dash-light templates, and will ship everything to Scot this week. However, before I ship them, I wanted to offer my installation services of my dash board parts to anyone who has already pre-ordered my parts. I have a small window of time which I can install my ID parts while Scot and I are waiting for our Detectascope castings from his caster (its out of his hands at the moment, but we're working on alternatives). If any of you who have pre-ordered ID parts either don't have the time, tools, or temperament to install these tiny little parts, here's your chance to have me do it for you. If you are interested, please email at: Ebay917K@aol.com for details. I will take "reservations" on a first come basis. If you would like to order parts from Scot/PMP right now, I will take whatever additional commitments I can, depending on the response from the initial pre-ordered buyers. I will only do this while I have time to do it, and assure you it will be up to my Insane Detailing quality standards. Remember...

Hey Gang,
I just finished upgrading a dash for a fellow Bat-fan on this site, and thought I'd post a photo or two of it.
Just in case your interested, the next one I'm working on right now will have photos with the new d-scope installed on it, too.
